Objectives:
At the conclusion, the participant should be able to:
• DEFINE social media – what it is and what it isn’t;
• IDENTIFY the (this week’s) major social media sites and apps and DESCRIBE their uses and users;
• IDENTIFY medical student uses of social media and trends;
• IDENTIFY medical applications of social media in use by clinicians;
• IDENTIFY benefits for the use of social media to patients and healthcare professionals;
• IDENTIFY barriers to the use of social media by physicians;
• IDENTIFY potential pitfalls to the use of social media by physicians and means to avoid;
• IDENTIFY guidelines and strategies to put use of social media into practice (or not).
