Writing Letters of Recommendation for Residency
Location: St. Vincent's Medical Center
At the conclusion, the participant should be able to:
1) DESCRIBE the elements/parts of a reference letter(e.g. extent of letter writer's contact with student, medical abilities,personal characteristics,etc); 2) EXPLAIN how the categories on the "end of Clerkship Evaluation Form" can be helpful in writing a recommendation letter; 3) CRITIQUE actual examples of a letter of recommendation; 4) DESCRIBE how to respond to a student requesting a recommendation; 5) DESCRIBE the official format and requirement of a recommendation letter, including how it applies to ERAS. Questions and answers will allow for audience participation.
