This session introduces students and mid-level providers to the fundamentals of audiology, emphasizing the connection between patient medical history and the diagnostic referral process. The course will also provide an overview of rehabilitation options, including hearing aids, tinnitus management, and cochlear implants, equipping attendees with the knowledge to support patients throughout their audiological care journey.
Attendees will be able to:
1. Identify key elements in a patient’s medical history that necessitate a diagnostic referral to an audiologist.
2. Understand the various rehabilitation options available for hearing loss, including hearing aids, tinnitus management strategies, and cochlear implants.
3. Develop the ability to recommend appropriate audiological referrals and rehabilitation strategies based on individual patient profiles.
