The Ear: Anatomy, Physiology, Evaluation & Treatment of Common Ear Disorders

This session covers a basic overview of otology for the APP. The speaker will cover basic anatomy, otoscopy and microscopy and bedside screening tools. Common outer and middle ear disease and referral suggestions are also discussed. After this course, attendees will be able to: 1. Identify landmarks on the outer ear, tympanic membrane and middle ear. 2. Identify external and middle ear conditions using otoscopy and microscopy. 3. Discuss the use of tuning forks as a bedside screening tool. 4. Apply basic knowledge about outer and middle ear disease for appropriate referral treatment.
